Time change coming up
Come March 9, 2008, we will spring our clocks forward an hour in most places. Not Arizona or Hawaii.

Fri 22nd..I'm waiting for Pic from day
Thank you to the Ferguson's and Sue for submitting photos!

Preliminary Field Trip Report! 22 people went. It was wet and soggy. But the bus drivers were experienced, except poor old Ramone who has been at the Bagdad mine all his life. He gave us a few wake up calls as he got the bus in the wrong gear and almost put us over the edge. Barb said she heard a lot of folks gasp. He even skidded around one corner. But he's a VERY nice man. Barb is dictating this to me over the phone, so you all will get the news FAST. She thanks everyone who came out in awful weather and showed up on time!
If anyone has pictures they took at the Bagdad trip today, I will be glad to post them. Sally

March Field Trip - Burro Creek led by Linda Chandler
Field Trip to Burro Creek MARCH 7, 8, 9, and ?, 2008
I will meet everyone at the Burro Creek camp ground at 8:30 AM on the morning of the 7th of March.
We will be heading out at 9 A M for the Bagdad area. There’s some very interesting rock over in that area. We will possibly take a side trip, so please plan your gas tank appropriate.
You will need the usual equipment, bags, hammers, lunch, water, and of course BUG spray. Last year in April I got attacked by No-see-ums at the camp ground. Since we’re a month earlier this year hopefully they won’t be so prolific .
Directions to the camp ground, well you can find it on your favorite search engine, or I can tell you it’s 53 miles from the exchange of I40 and Interstate 93. 93 is about 17 miles above Kingman, go south on 93. Once you get to Wikiup (your last gas stop) it’s about another 10 to 15 miles. (Could find anything on that in my time frame.)
You will pass several deep canyons on high bridges, when you come to the deepest one watch for the camp ground sign on your right. This will be about 1 mile past the bridge.
It’s another 1 ½ miles down to the camp ground.
I haven’t talked to Buck. Not sure what his plans are for this trip, but would welcome any new areas he may have found.
Plan on 300 plus miles for these three plus days and a great time!
See you on the 7th of March.

Bagdad Mine
I understand we are to depart from the restaurant in Wikieup at 10 AM (MST) on Friday February 22, 2008. So that means plan to be there at 9:30 AM. If I remember correctly, the restaurant/gas station is more on the south side of town, on the east side of the road. Update: I drove by there day before yesterday and the restaurant is Wickieup Trading Post. Yes it is on the east side of Hwy 93 on the south side of town. You can't miss it! And they have good breakfast!
Also, FYI, the Wikieup Trading Post is exactly 1 1/2 hours, from Bullhead Airport, driving exactly the speed limit.
Then we travel to the Badgad mine. We will meet at the Town/Mine Recreation Center at 11 AM. The field trip leader Barb Ballard needs a head count as soon as you can let her know. We are restricted in the number of people who go. Please call her at 928-768-6335 to let her know your plans. There will be information in the Blue Agate Newsletter and final information at our regular business meeting on February 20th.
