Year End Pot Luck - April 21 usual time
Our Year End Pot-Luck will be held one month earlier this year, so we include people who go north for the summer.
If you did not sign up to bring a side dish at the last meeting, will you call Sally 768-7437 or Lori at 928-234-3391 to sign up (if you haven't been called)?
Our new meeting place is great! As you will see at the year end pot luck.

Saturday March 29, 2008 9 AM will be the "work" day at the Blue Agate Mine.
Everyone come with your pick, hammer, bucket and goodies to have a great time doing our mine obligations for the year! And of course, you might get lucky enough to find that special piece of Needles Blue Agate!.
To get there, take 95 South from Needles, go left on Havasu Landing Road (roughly 20 miles) to about 2 miles past the power line ( almost exactly MM 11). Turn right to go into the mine. See ya there at 9 AM.

Ludow field trip April 11, 12 and 13
Hey folks!
The Club needs a head count on how many members plan to attend the Ludlow Field Trip. Montie Hazen, the leader of that trip has to drive many miles to even get to Ludlow, so we need a head count to make this trip a “go”. This should be one of the best trips ever! I personally hope everyone in the club and all their friends come. There will be dry camping close to Ludlow and the group is meeting at 9 AM every morning at the Dairy Queen to go out (for those folks who don’t camp.
Please let our Field Trip Chair Bob Ferguson know if you will be attending. His phone number is 928-768-7150 and his email is LDrider@frontiernet.net.

Post Received from our UK member
I received this email From Sue Griffiths a few minutes ago. (I'd emailed her the link to the article in the Mohave Valley News this week about her)
Hi Sally,
thanks for your email, I'm missing Arizona, the trips out and my friends and neighbours. I had made a big batch of cookies (the American way!) for the Bagdad trip but everyone scat so fast in the rain afterwards we were left with them. They went to next doors dog when we packed up.
We saw the article on line and our neighbour is saving a paper, but thank you. Story was that I went down to the office to see Jeff Mangum to ask permission to use this photo and the firey one he published a few weeks ago. Some of my students are writing their final dissertation on geohazards so I wanted to put them up on the students doing tornados and twisters online conference. While in the office Dominika recognised my accent (not so hard!) and asked for information on what we did in Bullhead as she was writing an article on relocation. Turned out, she is Polish, but did teaching in the UK at a school in the same town where I have my some of the University lectures. We had a great time looking at her photo album of familiar places Small world!
hello to all on the trail of gemmy things and I'm coming over in June so may see some of you then
best wishes Sue

Tuesday

What you missed at last night's regular business meeting! A LOT!Be sure to note the Year End Pot Luck is changed to the April Business meeting day, the 21st. Make sure you let Lori Clary (our refreshment chair) know what you are bringing. If you can't get her you can let me (Sally) know. It will be at our new meeting place (which by the way is wonderful - that's unanimous). Stayed tuned for updates on that and our upcoming field trips!

Pictures from Field Trip March 8 McCracken Mine Area
Mc Cracken trip March 8, 2008
was attended by 12 members, 4 guests and 4 dogs. We weren’t able to get to the Stone Cabin, as they were blasting above the Cabin and had it blocked off. They are running all over out there blocking off the mine shafts. That should take awhile. They are caving them in and filling them with Puf-foam. See the picture with the YELLOW “stuff” on the hill side. They said it was toxic so don’t plan on tasting it. It’s hard to believe that foam will hold up in the Arizona heat. We all found nice yard rock and a little nice slabbing material. We left after lunch and went to find chrysocolla. Everyone seemed happy with there finds for the day. Linda Chandler

The Newsletter is posted
Hi folks,
You can get to the March Blue Agate News from the sidebar. Enjoy!
Don't forget the time change this weekend...I believe it's 2 AM Sunday morning (of course the 9th). I always change my clocks when I go to bed - just easier that way.

BurroCreek CANCELED - McCracken area instead
The Burro Creek trip is cancelled. Many reasons , but there was not much interest on the part of members.
So the early March 2008 trip is changed to Mc Cracken Mine on Saturday March 8. Linda Chandler, the leader will meet people at 8:30 AZ time at the Terribles/Burger King at I40 and 95 . That's next door to the Pilot Station. It's about 160 round trip. Bring food, water, hammer, and pry bar. That's where to find silver bearing rock to cab. Also some nice Amethyst. Folks, this is a great, fun trip! Oh, and four wheel drive is required.
If you have any questions, give Linda a call. 928-855-6174
