March 23-26
It was a great rock hounding experience, as it always is in that part of AZ. That is some of the most beautiful landscape in Arizona. The rocks are outstanding ,and so plentiful you can pick them up like Easter eggs. Everyone had their "little" baskets full.
They're were 9 people, and 4 dogs in attendance on sat. to the Bagdad area. Everyone was happy with their finds, and Linda was especially happy with the firewood she found. No fire, no dinner.
On Sunday we went to the Burro Creek area, as Jim, Ramona and Barbara checked it out on Friday before I arrived, and found it to be a slimy quagmire. By Sunday we were ready to try it again , as it had not rained since Friday. It was surprisingly dry. We worked our way down to the creek, and crossed, then traveled a few miles east to our favorite lunch spot. They're were 8 eager rock hounds, and 4 dogs in tow. Again ,we were all happy with the easy pic kins, and we found some purple agate.
I can't close without mentioning the Apache tears, they were everywhere, and I managed to come back with a nice little bag.
Some of our group also stayed Sunday night.
All seemed very apprecitive of my leadership efforts, and I must say this was the best group I ever went with. This makes number twelve!
