Hi Rocknuts,
This was just forwarded to me and needs to be forwarded to all
concerned:
"All,
I have just spoken to Jim Strain, who was involved in CFMS/PLAC for years before his health became an issue. He is still involved in Imperial Valley politics and he has learned thru a County Supervisor that DIANE FEINSTEIN is going to propose after January 1, 2009 a WILDERNESS BILL THAT WILL COVER ALL OF THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA DESERT.
Senator Feinstein's office in Los Angeles is sending him maps that will cover all the areas involved.
YOUR JOB: convince everyone you contact that this is a bad bill. It will "Lock up" the very area that we have used as an educational tool to share our desert with our children and visitors. Who better to be "good will ambassadors of the Southern California Desert", than Californians who have grown up in the desert.
Please forward this to all your club members, we must flood Senator Feinstein's offices. Her Los Angeles office was unaware of the agreement making the Houser Bed area west of Blythe, CA as a "rockhound area." They have NOTHING ON FILE. The office of the BLM in Blythe has do files on this and all those who were involved are either gone or dead!
This leaves us.. If you want to continue to enjoy the Southern
California Desert, they we'll have to fight to keep it.
