And a great, huge thank you to Anthony Ferrari for arranging the trip to the Hector Mine. Mike submitted the above photo he took of Anthony in the scoop of a Caterpillar D8H .I have heard drift that six club members (Faith and Allan, Corinne and T, Leta and Mike) and four dogs (Huck, Marrs and Coco, and Lola) had a marvelous time yesterday! I am slightly jealous! Have seen some of the material collected and it is fabulous! Waiting and hoping for pictures!
Great, here is Anthony's email with a link to the pictures!
Greetings,
I am making some information available regarding Saturday outing to the Hector mine.
The picture link + the thank you letter to Elementis, tell most of the story.
I may add, that cooperation among clubs is one of the best elements of any field trip.
In this particular one, we acquainted with very nice people, helped each others to find, extract minerals as well as share good sites to visit.
However, this also carries some responsibility. There are many sensitive issues when it comes to rockhounding.
I did not make any posts on LAROCKS, to avoid burden Elementis with too many inquiries/requests.
Some of you were shown three new sites: This must remain confidential and only share the information with people you can trust.
We do not want unethical individuals or large groups to reap off the land and spoil the fun for the rest of us.
To those of you that took the chance to attend, congratulations since you were well rewarded.
Happy Rockhounding

Dear Mrs. Fitzgerald,
On Behalf of the members and clubs, CCRMC, SJVLS, Needles, YVGMS, we would like to thank you, Mr. Barry and the management of Elementis, for the wonderful opportunity to visit the Hector mine.
It was a nice day, in a spectacular pristine environment.
There was something for everyone: enjoyment of the outdoors, learning about your mine, the Hectarine process, and a good selection of collectable rocks and minerals.
Interesting, under UV light most of the agate/quartz have great colors !
We had a great time!
.
Mr. James Barry contribution to ensure the safety of the group, and his assistance in the education and collection process was remarkable, and greatly appreciated by the group.
I am passing this idea along to the CFMS (Southern California Federation of Mineralogical Society) for future reference.
This is a link to some of the picture we took on the field trip.
